I listen to you speak on

অনেক কথা যাও যে বলে
Awnek kotha jao je bole (audio: Chinmoy Chatterjee)

I listen to you speak on
With a deliberate silence
It dawns on me I have given up
On reading your mind

You wish to invade,
To bore into my heart,
With a scathing smile.
As you dart me a look of eagerness,
I seek to evade you, and return.

My eyes are rinsed lucid
With tears and hurt.
They behold you with utter clarity.
But yours do not.

Unknown as it may be to you,
A fogginess ensconces your heart.
In case unawares, you play tricks on me
I seek to evade you, and return.

(Another version by Rumela Sengupta:)

Many a thing you say having said not a word
I've forsaken all hopes to fathom your words

Your smile like an arrow pierces
The one who lives within my heart
With a timid startle you look
Peer at me with curiosity
So it is I wish to evade
So it is I turn away

My gaze it is enrobed in tears
You I see, but me you do not
Your mind is fogged in a mist
Unknown you remain to yourself
Lest unknowingly you let me down
So it is I wish to evade
So it is I turn away
