Love she came on tiptoe

প্রেম এসেছিল নিঃশব্দচরণে
prem eshechhilo nishobdo chorone

Love she came on tiptoe
I did not hear a sound
A dream I felt she was
Enthrone her I did not

When she took her leave
Resonated the sound

By then she was a dream
A form ethereal
Fading into the dark
Like a distant beacon
A ruddy mirage

  1. Hi..I landed up into your blog during my search for the original Bengali version of this poem which you have translated under the title Love she came on tiptoe …I have read few other translations in English and one in Tamil, each one with subtle differences that make a big change in the perception of the image Tagore had while penning the poem …is the poem titled Ashajawa by Tagore meaning coming and going? I would be very much thankful if you kindly could mail me the original Bengali version of it along with the title. Thanks a lot!
